The CompTIA or Computing Technology Industry Association is one of the organizations known for the best certifications in the world of Information Technology. They have been present in this field for more than three decades. Thanks to their unique and even revolutionary way of certification and education they have changed the IT industry forever. Since Information Technology is a broad field of expertise, it is quite logical to expect different types of certification. Of course, there are certain certifications like CompTIA A+ that are more popular than the others.
A+ certifications from CompTIA that you can get after extensive training with the help of IAT professionals are most popular among computer technicians. This certification was created 22 years ago and 14 years later, it became accredited by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute). This is the time when two other popular certifications from CompTIA – Network + and Security + were accredited.
In order to get A+ certification, besides finishing the training process, candidates must pass 2 different exams. The first one is called CompTIA A+ Essentials and through this exam the candidate must demonstrate the acquired knowledge equal to 500 hours of experience. This exam covers IT areas like memory management, computer repair, troubleshooting techniques etc. The second exam is known as CompTIA A+ Practical Application. For many candidates this exam is a little bit easier because it is focused on demonstration of practical knowledge in the field of software and operating systems. In addition, having an A+ certification means that a computer/IT technician has outstanding communication and customer service skills. For many technicians, this certificate is a starting point for their upgrade. Most of them are trying to get this certificate first and continue with some more advanced programs.
Another popular CompTIA certification is network +. This certification was developed 6 later in 1999. It is focused on evaluation of skills and knowledge used by network technicians. This time, candidates must pass only one exam. The exam includes areas related to network admins and technicians like maintenance and management of networks, software and hardware proficiencies, network types etc. Today, many companies ask for Network + certification as one of the terms to apply for a job position. Just like A+, this certification can be used as preparation for more advanced certifications like CCNA certification by CISCO and MCSA certification by Microsoft.
In order to apply as CITSS or Certified IT Support Specialist (for both A+ and network +), candidates must finish two courses and pass three exams. The complete training lasts for eight days. Once the training and exams are finished, the student will get the CITSS certification.
As previously mentioned each of these certifications opens room for new job opportunities and having both certifications can increase these chances. Some of the job opportunities for CITSS holders include sales consultant, network admin, help desk or support technician, mobile wireless sales consultant, retail manager, in-home computer specialist and many more.
More than 500.000 people around the globe have this certification, use IAT to get yours as soon as possible!
